Sabrina Luvene, LLMSW, is a distinguished social worker, birth and postpartum doula, and community advocate dedicated to empowering families and transforming communities in Detroit, Michigan. Her journey in public service began long before founding Nia Purpose in 2014.
Sabrina holds a Master of Social Work (2015) and a Bachelor of Social Work (Cum Laude, 2013) from Spring Arbor University, as well as an Associate Degree in Elementary Education from Wayne County Community College (2009). With over two decades of experience in the Detroit Public Schools system, she has held various roles, including Special Education Assistant and Social Worker Intern. Notably, she pioneered a positive behavior market/store at Marcus Garvey Academy, significantly reducing negative behavior and improving student development.
As the founder and CEO of Nia Purpose, Sabrina has secured $100,000 in grant funding and supported over 2,500 single mothers and 1,000 unhoused pregnant mothers, including aged-out foster moms, with educational and preventative services. Her advocacy extends to the state level, where she has testified before the Department of Human Health Services Appropriation committee, impacting maternal-infant health disparities.
Sabrina’s community involvement includes serving as a Detroit Community Ambassador in District 7 and Chairperson of the Robert Aviation Community Association. She has led several community initiatives, such as implementing speed bumps, establishing a neighborhood library, and creating a community space valued at over $80,000. Her professional affiliations include being the 2019 President of the Esper Street Block Club in Detroit and a Phi Alpha Society member.
Through Nia Purpose and her tireless advocacy, Sabrina Luvene continues to make a profound impact on Detroit’s District 7 and beyond, reshaping the landscape of maternal-infant health and community development. During her free time she spends time with her 2 children, 4 grand children and fur baby.
