Mary Alexander, J.D

Mary Alexander, J.D. is a dedicated community advocate and legal professional whose career spans both grassroots community work and high-level legal analysis. Her commitment to promoting change and stabilization in her community is evident through her leadership roles and extensive legal experience.

As the President of the Robert Aviation Community Association and the Normile Block Club, Alexander has been at the forefront of community initiatives in Detroit. Her work focuses on addressing local issues, fostering community engagement, and driving positive change at the neighborhood level.

Alexander’s professional background is rooted in law and legal analysis. She earned her Juris Doctor from Faulkner University School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama in May 2009 and was licensed to practice law in Alabama that same year.

Her legal career began with the Office of Indigent Defense Services in Montgomery, Alabama, where she served as a Criminal Defense Attorney from June 2010 to February 2015. In this role, she managed cases end-to-end, from initial appearances to trials, and even presented oral arguments before the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Alexander then transitioned into legal analysis, working with Cadence Counsel in New York from April 2017 to April 2020. Her responsibilities spanned various areas including SEC compliance, lease abstraction, patent infringement, pharmaceutical multi-district litigation, product liability, EPA violations, and banking and finance.

Most recently, from September 2019 to December 2023, Alexander worked as a Legal Analyst at Bowman and Brooke LLP in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Her focus areas included EPA violations, patent infringement, medical malpractice, pharmaceutical multi-district litigation, and product liability.

Throughout her career, Alexander has demonstrated a unique ability to bridge the gap between complex legal work and community advocacy. Her experience in both realms allows her to approach community issues with a nuanced understanding of legal frameworks and systemic challenges.

As a community leader, Alexander leverages her legal expertise to advocate effectively for her neighborhood. Her work promotes stability, addresses local concerns, and fosters a sense of community empowerment.
